Experience
The TMNT Mutant Mayhem experience allows users to transform themselves into each turtle from the movie. Won Best Branded Lens in Snap’s 2023 Lens Fest with over 80 million views.
The process included adapting and optimizing movie production models and textures to create one base turtle model, plus accessories, to be used for body tracking in an AR lens.
Texture Switches
Optimization involved:
- an 80% reduction in model tri count,
- reducing 25 UDIMs to 2 tiles,
- reducing 28 materials to 5,
- adapting each material’s texture map count from 11 each to 3 each, and
- preparing accessories and character model for blend shapes that would turn the base character model into each turtle character
